Preparation by reaction of chloromethyl methyl ether, ? with resacetophenone in the presence of potassium carbonate in acetone at r.t. for 2.5 h (65%), at 20° for 20 h (70–75%) or at reflux for 3–6 h ; ? with resacetophenone disodium salt in a methanol/toluene mixture (27%).
