Trisodium phosphate is also called "sodium orthophosphate". Chemical formula Na3PO4·12H2O. Colorless to white acicular crystal or crystalline powder, dodecahydrate melting point 73.4°C. Soluble in water, the aqueous solution is strongly alkaline due to the strong hydrolysis of phosphate (PO43-). Insoluble in ethanol, carbon disulfide. It is easily deliqued and weathered in dry air to produce sodium dihydrogen phosphochemicalbook acid and sodium bicarbonate. In water it is almost completely decomposed into disodium hydrogen phosphate and sodium hydroxide. Heating to 55 ~ 65°C into ten water, heating to 60 ~ 100°C into six water, heating to more than 100°C to become a water, heating to more than 212°C to become anhydrous. A 1% aqueous solution has a pH of 11.5 to 12.1.
