Calcium Phosphate Monobasic, a calcium salt of Phosphoric acid, has the chemical formula Ca(H2PO4)2-H2O or CaH6O9P2. It is also known as Calcium Superphosphate, Calcium Tetrahydrogen Diphosphate, Calcium Bis(dihydrogen phosphate) Monohydrate, and Calcium Biphosphate Monohydrate. It appears as a white, odorless, tasteless solid at ambient conditions and is insoluble in water.

Uses

This compound is added to animal feed as a supplement. Because of its purity, the product is easily digestive, especially by pigs and fowl. Additionally, it is a typical component of feed premixes for calves and aquaculture. Commonly, calcium phosphate monobasic is an effective phosphorus source supplemented into commercial L. vannamei feed, and the apparent phosphorus availability of calcium phosphate monobasic was the highest (46.3%) among the three types of calcium phosphate[1].

There are various items, including those used every day, that contain monocalcium phosphate. Many goods meant for eating include the chemical. Its inclusion in food must always be identified on the ingredient list. The Monocalcium Phosphate in baking powder is probably the most well-known. The ingredient causes baked items to rise as expected after baking.

Calcium dihydrogen phosphate is used as a leavening agent, dough conditioner, buffer, nutritional supplement, emulsifier, stabilizer, and other quality improvers. It can improve the complex metal ions, pH value, and ionic strength of food. It can improve the adhesion and water-holding capacity of food. Used in flour, Chemicalbook cakes, pastries, baked goods, fried foods, biscuits, milk powder, cold drinks, ice cream, etc. Our country stipulates that for bread, biscuits, and baking powder, the maximum usage amount is 4.0g/kg (calculated as phosphoric acid); solid beverages are 8.0g/kg; wheat flour can be used appropriately according to production needs.

In dog food, monocalcium phosphate is also present. Dogs, like people, require calcium and phosphorus to maintain and grow their teeth and bones. The ingredient monocalcium phosphate, added to pet food, is a fantastic source of both substances[2].

Monocalcium phosphate is used to make fertilizers that deliver calcium and phosphorus to the soil in addition to the uses already listed. A crucial mineral for plants, phosphorus aids in the growth of roots, the formation of flowers, and the ripening of fruits. In addition to aiding in cell division, nutrition absorption, and disease resistance, calcium is crucial for plant growth. Plants may obtain nutrients from monocalcium phosphate that they would not otherwise receive.
