ChEBI: A member of the class of xanthones that is 9H-xanthen-9-one substituted by hydroxy groups at positions 1, 2 and 8 and a methoxy group at position 6. It has been isolated from various species of the genus Swertia and has be n found to exhibit antioxidant activities.
